Automatic list of figures and tables

I've seen several questions dating back years regarding "How do I generate a list of all images/tables in my document?"

I've done a lot of searching and I can't find that anyone has ever answered.

1: I know of:  :ref:`genindex` to link to an automatically generated Index from all ".. index::" entries

2: I know how to use "... :numref:`some-image`..."  to display "...[link]Fig. 2[link]..." in my text

So, is there an equivalent to genindex for images or figures?

Hi,

Unfortunately, Sphinx does not provide such a feature officially. I
don't know there is a 3rd party extension for such purpose. If none,
you need to write a Sphinx extension to do that.
