Sphinx for electronic Lab Notebook

I'm looking to update my lab notebook. Currently I use LaTeX, but it is definitely showing its limitations.

Does anyone know of someone who has used Sphinx to keep a laboratory notebook? I'd like to have daily entries that I can tag and then filter on those tags. Is this doable with Sphinx?
