S5 and Sphinx?

Hi,

has anybody ever tried to make the S5 writer from docutils work together
with Sphinx?

I have an awful lot of slides in Latex/Beamer, and have plans to
translate those to something less retro. S5 looks rather promising, and
makes sense since I already maintain my homepage with Sphinx.

Python/Sphinx skills available (more of the former than of the latter;
I'm still learning).

and why rst2s5.py from Docutils (https://docutils.sourceforge.io/docs/user/slide-shows.html) isn't enough? Just wondering.

docutils does not know about relationships between documents. No :ref:,
no :doc:, no nothing. I want the slides to be first class Sphinx
documents, put links in them that are checked for consistency, etc.
