Verifying my Sphinx and latex install

I am having difficulty generating a pdf using the latexpdf make
target. This might be a problem with my .rst source files, or it
might be a problem with my Sphinx and latex install -- perhaps I
messed that up somehow.

Does anyone know of a large (say several hundred pages) open-source
technical document that you know can be created as a pdf using Sphinx?
It seems that if I could process that with my setup, I might have
some confidence that my setup was correct.
