Would like to create singlexml

Hi everyone,

I'm working on a converter to go from sphinx + a bunch of my extensions to an XML format called PreTeXt.  One big stumbling block is getting all of the xml into a single file.  If there were a singlexml like there is a singlehtml that would be great.  I would be happy to give it a try but would be grateful for any hints or advice on where to start.  Or perhaps someone knows that this already exists somehow but I'm not finding it.
