If it is decided that you need to be admitted to the hospital, a specialist or your personal physician will determine further treatment and the best area of the hospital for you. You may have to wait for an available bed. While waiting for your room, you will receive continual care.

Healthcare The Pediatric Waiting room is the renovation of existing spaces (6,550 square feet) within Children's Memorial Hermann Hospital (Texas Medical Center) to create a more welcoming environment for day surgery patients and their families. "A Day at the Beach" was the design theme for the project. The new waiting spaces use art, color, pattern and interactive features to help entertain and engage children and their families.

If you have a minor-to-moderate condition such as abdominal pain or mild breathing difficulties, you will go to the yellow zone. In this area, stretchers are only used for assessments and certain treatments. After you are seen by a health care provider, you may be asked to return to the yellow zone waiting room for further assessments, tests, and results.

Before designing a new pediatric waiting room for Chelsea and Westminster Hospital (London), designers at Boex, an interior and product design firm based in Cornwall, England, asked to shadow the hospital staff for 24 hours to better understand the workings of the 1,033-square-foot space.

ANSI/BIFMA X5.4-2020 Public and Lounge Seating. Covers seating typically found in indoor public spaces such as waiting, reception, visitor seating in patient rooms, restaurant / dining / cafeteria settings and other gathering areas. Public and Lounge seating may also include units with multiple seating positions. Usually, these products have limited adjustment features.

ANSI/BIFMA X5.41-2021 Large Occupant Public and Lounge Seating. Covers seating typically found in indoor public spaces such as waiting, reception, visitor seating in patient rooms, restaurant / dining / cafeteria settings and other gathering areas. There are two sets of requirements in this standard. One set uses the 400 lb. individual as the basis and the second set uses the 600 lb. individual as the basis.

ANSI/BIFMA X6.4-2021 Occasional-Use Seating. Covers seating typically found in indoor spaces such as waiting, reception, visitor seating in patient rooms, restaurant / dining / cafeteria settings and other gathering areas. Occasional-use seating may also be used in the home environment. Occasional-use seating products are generally not adjustable for personal use.

Neutral colors, as a general rule, will be more relaxing. While this may work in waiting rooms or other client access rooms, individual offices can benefit from adding some color. Color influences our mood and enhances our productivity.
