Situation Report 1: Flood Situation in Bihar

Dear all
For more than 30 days, heavy rain in Bihar and in the upper catchment area of rivers falling in Ganga has caused the Ganga River to swell and result in flooding of local villages. Since the flood waters have not receded in over four weeks, the area of flooding has expanded while people in these areas are having a very difficult time coping to the continuing flood waters.
The local government is providing dry rations to the effected households and setting-up relief camps in safe places for displaced people.
