Greetings from Sphere India.

 

We wish to bring to your notice that APMAS and Sphere India are facilitating a GO-NGO Meeting on 19th October at 10.30 a.m., at SERP Conference Hall on 4th Floor. NGOs engaged in relief operations and are keen to be involved in the rehabilitation process are invited to participate in the meeting. From the Government side, Mr. Raju, IAS, Mr. Rajasekhar, IAS, Mr. Reddy Subrahmanyam and Relief Commissioner will participate. Mr. T. Gopal Rao, Executive Vice Chairman of the State Level GO-NGO Coordination Committee would also participate in the meeting.

 

Agenda:

 

·         To share experiences from the present relief efforts

·         To discuss the immediate and long term needs of the affected families

·         To develop an effective coordination mechanism between government and NGOs.

·         To identify key advocacy issues for government and humanitarian that are immediate, short term and long term.

·         To highlight the need for stronger inter-agency collaboration and interface with government.

The Government of Andhra Pradesh, NGOs and several other civil society organizations have been doing their best to provide succor to the affected families. Many of you have been personally been there to be a part of the relief operations. Mr. Raju, IAS and Mr. Rajasekhar, IAS have also been there in districts to join hands with the district administration to provide the necessary relief to the affective families. They have requested APMAS to facilitate a meeting with NGOs.

 

As you all know, there is an urgent need for the Government and CSOs to synergize their efforts to maximize the immediate relief assistance and to coordinate the rehabilitation.

 

APMAS and Sphere India request International and National NGOs to forward this mail to important organizations involved in the relief and rehabilitation, who may not have been informed about this meeting.
