TIME OF ISSUE: 0830 HOURS IST DATED: 27.04.2019
Depression intensified into Deep Depression over East Equatorial Indian Ocean & adjoining southeast Bay of Bengal
The depression over East Equatorial Indian Ocean & adjoining southeast Bay of Bengal moved further northwestwards with a speed of about 20 kmph in last six hours, intensified into a deep depression and lay centred at 0530 hrs IST of 27th April, 2019 near latitude 4.5°N and longitude 88.0°E, about 870 km east-southeast of Trincomalee (Sri Lanka), 1210 km southeast of Chennai (Tamil Nadu) and 1500 km south-southeast of Machilipatnam (Andhra Pradesh). It is very likely to intensify into a Cyclonic Storm during next 12 hours and further into a Severe Cyclonic Storm during subsequent 24 hours. It is very likely to move northwestwards off Sri Lanka coast during next 72 hours and reach near north Tamilnadu & south Andhra Pradesh coast on 30th April 2019 evening.


Warnings:
I. Heavy rainfall warning
Light to moderate rainfall at many places with heavy falls at isolated places very likely over Kerala on 29th & 30th April, 2019. Light to moderate rainfall at few places over north coastal Tamil Nadu & coastal Andhra Pradesh on 30th April & 1st May, 2019.


II. Wind warning
· Squally wind speed reaching 50-60 kmph gusting to 70 kmph prevailing over East Equatorial Indian Ocean & adjoining central parts of south Bay of Bengal; is very likely to become gale wind speed reaching 60-70 kmph gusting to 80 kmph over Southeast Bay of Bengal & adjoining Equatorial Indian Ocean from 27th evening; 90-100 kmph gusting to 115 kmph over Southwest Bay of Bengal and off Sri Lanka coast from 28th evening; 120-130 kmph gusting to 145 kmph over Southwest Bay of Bengal, off north Tamilnadu & Puducherry coast from 30th morning and 135-145 kmph gusting to 160 kmph over southwest & adjoining westcentral Bay of Bengal off north Tamilnadu, Puducherry and south Andhra Pradesh Coasts from 1st May morning.
· Strong wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph gusting to 50 kmph likely to commence along & off Tamilnadu & Puducherry coast, Comorin area and Gulf of Mannar from 28th morning, becoming squally wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph gusting to 60 kmph from 29th morning. It is very likely to become squally wind speed reaching 50-60 kmph gusting to 70 kmph from 30th morning along Tamilnadu, Puducherry and south Andhra Pradesh Coasts.
· Strong wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph gusting to 50 kmph likely to commence over Kerala from 28th morning and becoming squally wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph gusting to 60 kmph on 29th & 30th.
III. Sea condition
· The sea condition is rough to very rough over East Equatorial Indian Ocean & adjoining central parts of south Bay of Bengal. It is likely to become high over Southeast Bay of Bengal & adjoining Equatorial Indian Ocean from today, the 27th evening.
· It is very likely to become high to very high over Southwest Bay of Bengal and off Sri Lanka coast from 28th evening; very high to phenomenal over Southwest Bay of Bengal, off north Tamilnadu & Puducherry coast from 30th morning and over southwest & adjoining westcentral Bay of Bengal, off north Tamilnadu, Puducherry and south Andhra Pradesh Coasts from 1st May morning.
· Sea conditions very likely to be rough to very rough along & off Puducherry, Tamilnadu and south Andhra Pradesh Coasts from 29th April to 1st May 2019.
IV. Fishermen Warning
· The fishermen are advised not to venture into deep sea areas of Southeast Bay of Bengal & adjoining Equatorial Indian Ocean on 27th & 28th; over Southwest Bay of Bengal and off Sri Lanka coast on 28th; Southwest Bay of Bengal, along & off Sri Lanka, Puducherry, Tamilnadu & south Andhra Pradesh coasts from 29th April to 1st May. Those, who are out in deep sea areas are advised return to the coast by 28th April, 2019.

Low Pressure System:
· A well low pressure area lies over East Equatorial Indian Ocean & adjoining southeast Bay of Bengal.
· It is very likely to intensify into a depression during next 24 hours over East Equatorial Indian Ocean & adjoining central parts of south Bay of Bengal and into a Cyclonic Storm during subsequent 24 hours over southwest Bay of Bengal & adjoining Equatorial Indian Ocean. It is very likely to move northwestwards along & off east coast of Srilanka near north Tamilnadu coast on 30th April 2019.

I. Wind warning
· Squally wind speed reaching 35-45 kmph gusting to 55 kmph likely over East Equatorial Indian Ocean & adjoining southeast Bay of Bengal on 25th.
· It would gradually increase becoming squally wind speed reaching 45-55 kmph gusting to 65 kmph over East Equatorial Indian Ocean & adjoining central parts of south Bay of Bengal on 26th; gale wind speed reaching 65-75 kmph gusting to 85 kmph over Southwest Bay of Bengal & adjoining Equatorial Indian Ocean on 27th; 80-90 kmph gusting to 100 kmph over Southwest Bay of Bengal & adjoining Equatorial Indian Ocean and along & off Sri Lanka coast on 28th and 90-100 kmph gusting to 115 kmph over Southwest Bay of Bengal, along & off Sri Lanka coast and off Tamilnadu & Puducherry coast on 29th.
· Strong wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph gusting to 50 kmph likely to commence along & off Tamilnadu & Puducherry coast, Comorin area and Gulf of Mannar from 28th morning, becoming squally wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph gusting to 60 kmph from 28th night and becoming Squally wind speed reaching 50-60 kmph gusting to 70 kmph from 29th morning. Wind speed would gradually increase further becoming 90-100 kmph gusting to 115 kmph along & off north Tamilnadu & Puducherry and adjoining south Andhra Pradesh districts coasts from 30th afternoon.
· Strong wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph gusting to 50 kmph likely to commence over Kerala from 28th morning and becoming squally wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph gusting to 60 kmph from 29 th morning.
