2. Water for a food secure world : Strategic Plan 2009- 2013 (IWMI 2009)
The Strategic Plan by International Water Management Institute (IWMI) shows how science and technology backed by socio economics can provide solutions to future water shortages and food crises. Four simple elements form the basis of IWMI’s plan and the new organizational structure. It provides knowledge concerning how much water is available and how it is currently used, identifies ways in which water can be used more productively in both irrigated and rainfed agriculture, identification and mitigation of risks to human health, food production and the environment from land degradation and associated declining water quality and waster water use.

Climate Change Adaptation : Enabling people living
in poverty to adapt .(Oxfam,2009)
The paper seeks to bring together knowledge from Oxfam's work on
livelihoods, natural resource management, and disaster risk reduction to
show what can work for adaptation to various climate hazards. It seek to locate
the approach within a vulnerability context, whereby differentiated
vulnerability is analysed and acted upon, prioritising the needs of the
communities and individuals most vulnerable to climate change with national
approaches to adaptation.

Building climate resilience in the agriculture
sector of Asia and the Pacific:
This report discusses building climate change resilience into the agriculture
sector in Asia and the Pacific. The nexus between climate change and
agriculture and formidable barriers to achieving sustainable development are
the themes of the study. It uses predictions of global climate models to
develop scenarios to 2050 for Asia and to derive implications for food
security. It also recommends cost-effective adaptation responses. The
Agriculture, Rural Development and Food Security Unit of the Region and
Sustainable Development Department (RSDD) of Asian Development Bank (ADB)
coordinated the study and preparation of the report was led by International
Food Policy and Research Institute (IFRI).
