Good Afternoon from COLD North Carolina !!
It's nice and sunny, but having lived most of my life in Santa Barbara, I need a break... so driving south tomorrow afternoon to seek warmer weather... returning Tuesday. I expect to be in Palm Beach area. If any of y'all are interested in a visit, please reach out.
We keep writing about chrome in bookbinding leather . Why? It is not traditional for bookbinding as it lacks the properties of pure vegetable tanned leather ... but chrome can be given "some" veg character... but, it's still chrome/veg. Why else is this important?? Cost. Leather which has any amount of chrome associated with vegetable tanning, in light weight leathers , should sell for FAR LESS than 50% of the price of veg leather due to manufacturing costs for rawstock, chemicals, pollution, and difference in ease of manufacture. Why do some people sell leather as being full veg when it's not? For the obvious reason is that it can be sold for more AND they probably don't know.... unless they test... we test
We offer the following brief video. Judge for content, please, not studio effects
We will supply test kits to anyone , free of charge, to help y'all, if interested in testing for chrome
Warmest Regards
Steve
