For the last few years we have been putting a label of authenticity on our leather . It is a unique number which we store in a database, It identifies the name of the leather, source of rawstock, supply procedures, recipes, when produced, any special notes
This makes each of these skins 100% traceable.
A Message to Our Community: Protecting the Integrity of Genuine Sokoto
Most of our Genuine Sokoto leather carries a unique identifying mark. If someone is selling you leather and claiming it’s Sokoto—but it’s not coming from us—they’re offering a fundamentally different product. We’ve been producing and supplying authentic Sokoto for over two decades, and while legal constraints limit what we can publicly say, we stand by our unmatched credentials: academic rigor, deep trade expertise, and a proven record of success against impostors—both in court and out.
It’s deeply disappointing to see others attempt to hijack our name and goodwill. But we trust that our customers know who we are, what we stand for, and why our reputation matters. Your support over the years has meant everything to us, and we hope that trust continues.
Over the years, as our leathers and name have gained prestige, we’ve had to confront three separate entities for infringing on our name—two within the bookbinding and tanning trade, and one a multi-billion-dollar reseller of leather goods. In every case, we prevailed.
We stand by you. We ask you to stand by us.
