Dear Board and Committee Members,

Since almost all of you are members, you should have received this email a short time ago. I'm reaching out on behalf of the Leadership Committee to emphasize how important it is that everyone participate in recruiting a slate of qualified candidates to run for the six seats that are up for election in May. 

ALL of the board members whose term ends this year have served on the Board since the very beginning and have worked extremely hard and given countless hours of their time since that 2011 election to get the Co-op to the point where it is today: over 640 member-owners, respect and admiration among the larger co-op and start-up co-op community, and positioned to sign a lease on a location as soon as we find one. 

That said, four years is a long time and they deserve an opportunity (if they choose) to rotate off the Board knowing that their work will be continued and the organization will remain strong. It is all of our responsibility to help find candidates who can continue their good work if they choose not to run again. (Though, of course, the Leadership Committee would welcome any of our incumbents to run again and hopes they all do!)

So please... think about all of the people you've worked with on these various committees and take a few seconds to suggest one or two of them as nominees. The suggested nominee form can be found at this link. Deadline is end of day on Sunday (2/15).

Dan -- During the May 2015 General Membership Meeting, the South Philly Food Co-op will hold its annual Board of Directors Election. We are currently accepting nominations for candidates for that election. The requirements for qualifying as a candidate and the detailed Director job description can be found on our website. There are six (6) Director seats up for election this year and we're asking all of our members to help put together a great slate of candidates to run for those seats. If you know a fellow member-owner who meets the requirements for being a candidate and would be great addition to the Board at this very important time in the Co-op's history, please follow this link to fill out the nominee suggestion form. Suggestions are due by the end of the day on Sunday, February 15 so please act quickly! If you meet the requirements for being a candidate and would like to run for the Board, follow this link to the self-nomination form. (No signature collection necessary this year!)
