Dear Maria

Thank you for participating in the Knight Cities Challenge. We are writing to let you know that, after careful review, you have not been selected as a finalist.

We value the time you took to submit your idea. However, we received more than 7,000 submissions and are only able to accommodate a limited number of finalists that offer the most potential to advance talent, opportunity and engagement. We’ll announce the finalists publicly via our blog and a news release at 9 a.m. EST on Monday Jan 12.

The Knight Cities Challenge is only one part of Knight Foundation’s broader support of informed and engaged communities. Click here for an overview of the funding opportunities available through the foundation. We’ll let you know as we announce new projects and initiatives and hope that you’ll continue to be a part of Knight’s community of innovators.

Knight has local staff in eight resident communities. Your local program director will follow up to let you know how to stay involved with Knight in your community.

Knight invests in civic innovators who help cities attract and keep talented people, expand economic opportunity and create a culture of engagement. We are exploring these ideas in many ways, including through “Knight Cities,” a weekly podcast discussion with civic innovators. You can find the podcasts on iTunes or view the entire archive here.

Thank you again for participating in the Knight Cities Challenge. We hope that you’ll continue working to make your city more successful. For our cities to succeed we need everyone to pull together.

Please visit our blog and follow #KnightCities on Twitter for updates on the Knight Cities Challenge. We hope to see you soon.

Best,

Carol Coletta
VP/Community and National Initiatives
