Our guest speaker is Bogusław ‘Bob’ Marek Ph.D. OBE
Bob is a retired professor of English and founder of HUNGRY FINGERS – a small organization based in Poland, developing educational resources for children with special educational needs.
Bob is an experienced practitioner with children with combined vision and hearing loss and will be discussing the use of tactile illustrations.
The title of Bob's presentation is: Before a child with (deaf)blindness can understand and enjoy tactile illustrations. Lessons from the story of Goldilocks.
Bob will show why tactile illustrations are difficult to understand. He will also present some teaching aids which will help teachers/parents introduce children to tactile drawings and collage type illustrations. Also, Bob will introduce participants to the international Typhlo&Tactus competition for creators of tactile illustrations.
