Dear SPEVI members and friends,
I'm writing on behalf of a good friend of mine from Papua New Guinea, Mr Israel Kine who has recently commenced studying in Brisbane, living a lifelong ambition to receive an Australia Awards Scholarship and study overseas for the first time. While he has good access to a laptop with voice output software and other necessary assistive technology, having access to a Perkins Brailler would greatly enhance the experience as he would be able to take notes for verbal, in person presentations, produce hard copies of study notes, etc, all beneficial as he is a proficient Braille reader and writer.
If you have a Braille machine Israel could borrow periodically or more long-term, please feel free to get in touch with me at
bwc...@gmail.com.
With SPEVI proudly supporting and endorsing the Global Braille Literacy Campaign in partnership with ICEVI, the World Blind Union and many other like minded organisations and individuals, it is a good opportunity for our wonderful network of members and friends to get involved and directly promote access to Braille literacy through assisting with provision of equipment and expertise wherever possible.
I sincerely thank you all for considering this request.
Kindest regards,
Ben Clare: Co-president, SPEVI Inc.
