Dear Friends and Colleagues,

The International Council for Education of People with Visual Impairment (ICEVI) and the World Blind Union (WBU) have conducted a soft launch of their joint campaign “More Braille: More Empowerment”, introduced at the World Blindness Summit in São Paulo on 2 September 2025. Welcomed by over 1,100 delegates, the campaign highlights Braille as the foundation of literacy, independence, and full participation in society.

The campaign vision is to strengthen global commitment to Braille by:

  • Highlighting its continuing relevance in the digital era
  • Encouraging collaboration across countries and regions
  • Amplifying the voices of Braille users worldwide, encouraging educators to learn and teach Braille

Focus areas include advocacy, information sharing, and pilot research, with opportunities for everyone to get involved. The soft launch marks the beginning of global collaboration leading up to the official launch on World Braille Day, 4 January 2026.
