Dear Executive Board Members,

Happy International Day of Deafblindness 2025!

We are excited to join this significant celebration and share some resources with you.

Today marks the first-ever International Day of Deafblindness, a significant milestone in raising global awareness and recognition for persons with deafblindness. To mark this important occasion, we are pleased to share two articles that shine a light on the experiences, rights, and urgent advocacy needs of persons with deafblindness:

Leaving No One Behind: Why International Deafblind Awareness Day Matters by Mary Maragia – Vice President Deafblind International (DbI)

Global Education Campaign “LET ME IN”: For the Right to Education of Children with Deafblindness by Mirko Baur – President Deafblind International (DbI)

Publication on LinkedIn

ICEVI supports these very important messages and stands in solidarity with Deafblind International (DbI), the World Federation of the Deafblind (WFDB), our member organizations, and the wider disability movement in advocating inclusion and equal opportunities for persons with deafblindness worldwide. As a global network committed to inclusive education for learners with visual impairment, including those with deafblindness, we recognize the unique barriers they face and remain deeply dedicated to advocating for inclusive solutions that ensure their full participation and equal opportunities in all aspects of life.

We encourage you to read and share these articles within your networks to help amplify this crucial advocacy:

Thank you for your continued commitment and action.
