Emily, Noah, Allen: Defense Mechanism Problems

1. Intellectualization: John got a 40% on his stat test. Instead of
stressing out about his grade and worrying about failing the class, he
spent all afternoon analyzing each question he got wrong and why.

2. Nomadism: Paul quits every job he has after only 5 months because
he is afraid of getting to committed to one occupation.

3. Compartmentalization: Mary gets straight A's in all honors classes
in school, however, around her friends she acts dumb to fit in.

4. Somatization: Julie just went through a rough divorce with her ex-
husband Patrick who cheated on her. Initially, Julie was very upset
with Patrick. However, rather than staying mad at him, she convinced
herself that their divorce was all her fault because she was a
horrible wife and never deserves to be in love again.

5. Introjection: After reading all the Twilight books 5 times and
watching all the movies over and over again, Carol and her friends
became convinced that they were vampires, so they refused to go
outside on sunny days.
