When it comes to industrial automation, Studio 5000 is one of the most widely used software packages in the world. Studio 5000 Logix Designer (formerly known as RSlogix 5000) is used to program the most powerful Allen-Bradley PLCs (technically PACs), including the ControlLogix and CompactLogix controllers.
It's been a couple of years since I've worked on a full Rockwell project, and the current licensing scheme has View Designer as part of Studio 5000. I'm working on a big project where what I do has to be compatible with what others are doing. I've got Studio 5000/ logix designer installed as V33.01 to be compatible with the current project. But the existing HMI is in view designer 7.02 and when I try to open it, my version is 8.0.
The unique integration to Studio 5000 Logix designer allows for quick and easy connectivity to PROFIBUS, Modbus-TCP, and serial/DF1 slave devices. Everything is accessible from within Studio 5000, even the proprietary Master configuration software.
