I recently added an entry to the crontab on the server and rebooted.
Now when trying to login, I get an error that says:
Login failed.
Unable to authenticate with username or password. (111, 'Connection
refused')
Any ideas on what this could be???
Even accessing a room anonymously doesn't work. The room opens up, but
when you types something, nothing happens.

One of the servers didn't start up. Either punjab/BOSH or your jabber server.

I restarted ejabbered and I think I started up punjab (via
shell>twistd -y punjab.tac).
Login via speeqe id works, but using gmail does not. it behaves as if
i'm logged in but when i access the room, it uses the room name as the
user id. funky!
is there anything else to look for?

gmail is known to have many server to server issues. Does this behaviour continue? If its temporary, its probably google. If it continues, I can help debug.

Thanks for the heads up re: gmail. It's working, so it must have been
one of those temporary glitches.
