I have an EAC 205 notebook with a section for each Unit, a page for
each Objective, and a subpage for each example (sometimes will put all
examples on main objective page if problems are short). I will
maintain an active DyKnow session for the first day and download all
the slides along with their notes, then save to my hard drive and
write my own notes during future classes. If examples are worked in
the DyKnow course pack, I write in OneNote "See CP slide xx". Not
saying this is the best way, but it's worked very well for me thus far
without any problems.

I am rather meticulous about how I organize my notes. I'll do my best
to explain what I do. My methods have changed over the semesters so
I'll explain what I do this semester because my technique has,
hopefully, improved.

First off, I have a section group for EAC 205. This section group
contains all of the sections that I use. There is one general one and
one for each unit. I use the naming scheme "EAC 205 Unit X" for each
unit so that the all of the sections are easily identifiable outside
of OneNote. In each of these sections I make a page for each day and
a subpage for each objective. I could just as easily make a page for
each objective and skip making them subpages. I also make a page for
each homework problem that I write down from the help session (this
forces me to recopy them down onto paper so I look at them again).

Additionally, I screen capture DyKnow objective information. I always
capture the actual objective and put it on the top of each objective
page. Also, many objectives has written examples and DyKnow
examples. I screen capture these DyKnow examples inline with the
examples that I write in order to keep everything together in one
place. I don't screen capture everything but I try and get as much as
I think I'll need and only if I feel the need to, I will look back at
the DyKnow slides.

That basically sums up how I take my notes. I also try to use several
different colors in order to identify different things. Other than
that I do scan in the objective pages so I can go totally paperless in
the class. I will admit that I took notes in EAC 101 on paper but for
other classes I used my tablet specifically because I was not able to
maintain the pace of writing on a tablet. My speed has since improved
with practice.

When you screen capture, do you just do a print screen and crop?

In OneNote 2007 there is a button labeled "Clip" that switches to the last application that was in use (this is probably DyKnow) and you can draw a box around what you want and it is imported into OneNote.  The trick is to draw a dot where you want to top left corner of where you want the screen capture to be placed.

Mary,
I heard about your pen, well, I've got a spare HP tablet pen you can have if you would like.  I've never really used it and would be happy to let you have it.  Just reply to me if you want it.

I am not as organized as Jared when I write my notes, but I use a similar method.  I have a group for each class.  In this case EAC 201-02 Fall "07, from there I have a section for each unit.  Written as Unit X.  I dont make everything a page, but I try to get Dyknow clippings of the relevant coursepack pages and my notes on a page , then I put the associated Objective on a subpage.  Also when we go over homework I make a new section for that with each problem its own page.  The screen clippings are really useful and I use them often.  Like Jared said use lots of colors to differentiate between different examples or important equations.  You want to be able to find these easily. I would never go back to pencil and paper because I move so much faster with the tablet and keep everything organized.  Once you get used to writting on the tablet you get faster and learn tricks to speed up further.
