The Cheese Monkeys by Chip Kidd

i'm a sucker for a good coming-of-age story, esp one in this time
period, involving a bit of art. oh, the clever title had me at
"the"... ;o) this is my first and highest recommendation based solely
on my curiosity and desire to read the book.
The Brief Wonderous Life Of Oscar Wao by Junot Diaz

i've also been dying to re-read this one in a group setting. i read
the galley before it was a pulitzer winner and was blown away. an
amazing coming-of-age story that touches anyone who's had a hard time
of life and thinks the greater forces of the world are out to get
them.

Okay, August was awful for us and I dropped the ball on the book
(intending to read it soon...), so I feel the need to defer to those
who read last month's book when choosing this month's book. Both
suggestions sound good to me.
