Here http://www.kdedevelopers.org/node/2789, jriddell wrote about
synchronizing application's release plan with that of Gutsy, which is
available at https://wiki.kubuntu.org/GutsyReleaseSchedule.

Since SpeedCrunch has been and is still always the default desktop
calculator for Kubuntu, I reckon it will be a great service to the
Kubuntu team if we start to synchronize our release with them. IOW I
propose a time-based release instead of feature-base.

What do you guys think?

In addition, for version 0.8, if we want to sync it with Gutsy, there
is still time until around end of July before we make a final version.
So we shall make some alpha and/or beta releases this month and enter
bugfix sessions soon.

Ariya

I think that this sounds like a good idea. It also means that the
project will become more agile - as I expect the releases to be more
frequent.

I had already thought about this myself. I guess we all agree on that
then, so I propose the following release schedule for the next
(strongly awaited) version:

. June 20th - 0.8beta1
. July 1st - 0.8beta2
. July 15th - 0.8

Which gives us more than a month for the final version and be
synchronized with Gutsy.
Any opposition?

And then we must schedule 0.9 right after releasing 0.8...

Very nice! At least I completely agree with your plan.

From my side, I won't add any new features anymore. So when your eng()
implementation is in, we can start hunting and fixing the bugs, as
well as notifying the translators.

In the new changes are there more changes that need to be made to the documentation in order for .8?  I work on the Kubuntu Documentation team and wouldn't mind helping out with this as well.  Just need some pointers on how to get started if there is a need for it.

Hi Jonathan,

Thank you very much for the offer! Indeed, we have a lot of things to
do regarding the documentation. I believe the original docbook that
was written for Kubuntu is already a bit out of date. I'll try to
commit a rudimentary new documentation (in docbook) to our repository.
Since likely you know better about documentation, your help is very
much welcomed.

Ariya,

Your welcome, sorry about the delay in responding, but I have been traveling a lot lately.  Where is the repository located for the docbook files?  Any thing else I need to do to work those up and then commit changes?

Than ks,

Jonathan

Please give me a few days to clean-up my mess, then I'll commit it. Of
course I would let you know when I'm ready.

Regards,

Ariya
