think about ... are there websites where you have typed your password of gmail?
if yes then you are very naive thinking ..... if i ask you, give me
your password of your email so that i can get all your contacts...
then you will say NO NO
But if a website is asking it... THEN YOU DO ?????

Jazz,

I can't even find the words to comment on your exposure. I got to
know the same situation happened to 5 friends of min only in the past
few days. You can be next any time, but I honestly don't want you to
swallow your own words :)

By the way, how did you know when your account was hijacked? Did you
see it on sent items? This kind of attack, has been previously attack
yahoo mail.

No, I found out immediately because a lot of addresses sent a denial
back to me, and a lot of contacts we're kind enough to alert me about
what they had received.

Thanks for reminding me: I just changed my password. BTW, changing important passwords every few months is an elementary precaution everybody should follow. I did not do so until now, but I should and I advise everyone to do so. A few links about password tips:

Funny story: I had recently a problem with a bank which advised to use at least 8 characters (good advice), allowed me to set up a 9 characters long password, but refused to let me enter more than 8 when logging in! And for all users who have a language with diacritic signs: avoid using them in passwords if you plan to go abroad.
