I created a group for discussing speech assessment questions and problems, I will see if I can answer (give pointers to) most of them for you guys during weekends or evening time. And please free free to post your questions. I am also looking forward to having more members so we can help each other.

P.S.: I have a PhD in speech, and my thesis is on pitch estimation and speech analysis.

Hello, Im working on a research with music and speech analysis. Can you help me figure out what all the differences between a person speaking and singing be? Pitch, tone etc. Also would you know of any audio processing methods to convert the same singing audio to a normal speech tone? Any insights would be very helpful. Thanks in advance.

"differences between a person speaking and singing"
This is a very general topic, you can definite go and search on google. My own understanding is:
They are both in vocalized form. Speaking is to deliver linguistic information in to your audience, in which the main goal is to communicate; while singing is to deliver art forms to  your audience (or yourself), in which the main goal is to perform.
Singing has a wider range of pitch and more change patterns compared to speaking. Singing is tonal, but not all spoken languages are, e.g. English is not tonal language, but Mandarin is.

Hollywood recording studios use some more advanced pitch/tone rectify solutions, I think.
