Hi everyone,
I’ve been using Spectroid and I have a question about the logarithmic scales.
Someone recently told me that what I’m seeing on the screen is "just a demonstration" and not the "real sound." I was wondering if anyone (or Carl) could explain how the app represents the actual audio data? I want to understand if the logarithmic scale makes it more accurate to how we hear things.
Thanks for the help!

The pitch that the human ear can perceive is in a logarithmic relationship with the frequency of the sound. That is, when the frequency doubles (one octave higher), the increase in perceived pitch by the human ear is the same. In my app (https://github.com/Toby7-7/Spectrogrammer), there is a music log available. You can experience the relationship between subjective pitch and frequency.
