How many people out there actually readjust the FoDi on RNFL scans?

How many people out there fill in the refractive data, other than the default, and does it really make a difference?

Hi Denise

If you leave the refractive data and Keratometery at the default setting it will not affect the accuracy of any change in the history of a single patient if analyzed over time as the deviation will be the same for all visits. However if you wish to compare the change in lesion size for example when using Regionfinder within a group of patients over a timeline then the data will have increased accuracy if the precise “K” values are recorded at baseline for all patients.

Keep in mind that a deviation of 0.1 mm from the real c-curve value of an eye results in a change of length measurements of 1% and a change of area measurements of 2%. The standard deviation of the c-curve value for the whole population is 1 mm. This means that if you don’t consider the real c-curve value you will get an error of 20% in area measurements and also 20% if you measure the absolute value of a change of area.

Hope this helps

Stephen
