New issue 350 by Michael....@gmail.com: Running Network Manager but having
your Primary Interface Unmanaged/Static Prevents Specto from Working
http://code.google.com/p/specto/issues/detail?id=350

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Set one of your network devices as a static IP and explicitly don't
manage it from NetworkManager (I forget exactly how I did this.. I can
research if necessary.) but keep NM installed for VPN connections and such.
2. Attempt to use Specto to check up on website updates.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
No internet connection is detected. It should realize I do have an active
connection.

There are many ways this could be solved. Perhaps the best way would be
running ip/ifconfig and seeing that a device other than lo is in the UP
state and has an IP.

I have, however, made a patch that i think is conservative, simple and
suffices for this special case. It simply adds a switch to ignore network
manager internet detection and instead use the failover detection.
