The SRX Series began in 2021, with Tony Stewart claiming the series' inaugural championship. Stewart has been the series' winningest driver to date, with five victories in 18 races over three years. Marco Andretti won the 2022 championship, with Ryan Newman taking the title in 2023. The 2023 season also saw the series move from Saturday night races to Thursday night broadcasts on ESPN during the six-week summer series.
Coming off the approval to dissolve IUPUI and launch Purdue University in Indianapolis in 2024, with multiple locations throughout the city and degrees from Purdue University West Lafayette, the iconic Boilermaker gold and black will adorn the race car shared by Helio Castroneves and Tony Kanaan, racing legends and fan favorites throughout the state of Indiana and beyond.
The Superstar Racing Experience is a series consisting of legendary drivers racing identically prepared race cars, leaving driver skill as the lone variant. In its first two seasons, SRX has solidified its position as American television's second-most-watched motorsports property. Thanks to a multiyear broadcast partnership with ESPN announced last December, every SRX race will air live on ESPN at 9 p.m. ET on Thursday nights. Starting July 13 the series will make stops at dirt and paved racetracks across six different states every Thursday night through Aug. 17. In 2022 the SRX field featured a total of five Indianapolis 500 winners, five NASCAR Cup Series Championship winners, four Daytona 500 winners, four NASCAR Hall of Fame drivers and three IndyCar Series Championship winners. Tony Stewart collected the inaugural SRX Championship in 2021, while longtime IndyCar stalwart Marco Andretti claimed the title in 2022.

Since the inaugural season of SRX in 2021, the Skip Barber Racing School has served as the official logistics partner for the series, responsible for the care, maintenance, and transport of all series vehicles throughout the season. Many of the regular competitors in SRX graduated from the Skip Barber Racing School including Ryan Newman, Bobby Labonte, Ken Schrader, and Marco Andretti.
In addition to operating over 200 days of racing schools and safe driving academies each year, the Skip Barber Racing School owns and operates the Skip Barber Race Series, a training-focused Formula 4 series. The Skip Barber Racing School also competes in professional racing under the Skip Barber Racing banner with entries in a variety of series including IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge, TC America powered by the Skip Barber Racing School, and Toyota GR Cup North America.
Superstar Racing and Superstar Streetz were both made inaccessible for new players by January 1st, 2023 with the servers going offline for existing owners on January 31st. The games were removed from the Steam store in January and early February 2023 but after January 1st only the launchers could be downloaded, the client installer was already offline.
It seems that after more than a decade in operation, and despite the increased number of players in 2022, the games were not able to generate enough in-game purchases or VIP subscriptions to justify maintaining them any longer.

Tracy, 54, has been a regular competitor in SRX races since its inaugural season in 2021. The series was founded by three-time NASCAR Cup Series champion Tony Stewart, running six races every summer.
Tracy has yet to miss a race, recording one podium in 15 starts. On Thursday, he was battling with Josef Newgarden for fifth with just 12 laps to go in the main event. Tracy squeezed Newgarden into the outside wall, igniting a multi-car crash. Hailie Deegan, Ken Schrader, and 2022 SRX champion Marco Andretti were all collected in the ensuing crash.
"I mean Newgarden and I were bouncing off of each other for a couple of laps," he told ESPN. "I got a nose ahead of him, half a car length ahead of him and I just got hooked and turned sideways down the straightaway. It was just hard racing at the end there with 10 laps to go, and everybody's going for it hard. It's a tough track to get off the corner, it's a bad deal for everybody."
