Hi,
I'm trying to get a new writing group off the ground, much like the one you all attended. I was wondering if anyone would be interested? I've said it's Fantasy writing but it should be probably more Speculative, whatever people are interested in as long as they're really into it. Just a relaxed group, feedback, support etc. Maybe a drink post meetings. If anyone is interested please drop me a message or even look for me on FB, Michael Egan - I've started a group on there Liverpool Fantasy Writers.

Hi Michael. ..good to hear... based on recent experience I would say that the best place to run this is under the umbrella of the "Meetup" website. There may even be one already for the North West tho not for Merseyside I think. I'm interested.  Tho time is short. Al

I'd definitely be interested,  although my writing tends to lean more dark fantasy/horror if that's acceptable?

That's fine. It'd be pretty much what you guys did before. I run a poetry night, Storm and Golden Sky, in the Caledonia, so I might be able to get the function room there. If you could let me know your available nights that'd be great.

Hi,
I did try to put on Meetup but it asked me for money and I resented that. Though I might have done it wrong. When are you available to attend a new group?

Count me in.  Not on Facebook but just drop me an email.  Top work for starting something!

Hi, folks. I was a member of the former group for a while, before I returned to Mexico. Mr Shipman may remember me, fat guy with the glasses. Anything? No?

I still live in Mexico but am happy to correspond or beta read anything currently in discussion if you'll have me.

Best regards.

Dave.

Hi, John. How are you doing?

Thanks for your offer of assistance and like wise I'll be happy to peruse any presented material in return.

Did you finish that man waiting by the bus stop piece?

My best effort was the recovering zombies in a coffee shop. Curious how popular this theme has since become.  Little time to write in last two years but some ideas's I'd like to develop.

Still living in the land of corruption with scorpions, black widows and the bribe takers.  I'm currently waiting on the final cover art for my first piece to be released for the Kindle in a week or so. It's the first in a series with book 2 98% done. I'll be ordering the cover art for this in around another week.

I really want to return to the UK, but it's just not possible at the moment.

You still a chemist?

How did you all used to send around work? Dropbox? Any house rules? I would suggest maybe I find a venue for the first wednesday of August if anyone is up for that?

Hey.  Neil W was asking about the old spec fic group the other day at DoES, and was interested in details of a new one.

I suggest that you pick a date and advertise it.  Don't worry too much about the date (in my experience, almost every time I changed a date to accommodate somebody, they then didn't turn up :D)

Best,
H

Hi all,
if I say we'll meet Monday 8th September in the Caledonia, catharine Street at 7.30. I'll try sorting the upstairs room but if we meet downstairs initially. If anyone can make it please let me know. We'll just meet initially to get it going, talk about our projects etc. Though if people have work ready we can do short critiques etc but mainly keep meeting 1 as a way of starting it up.

Just a thought...

There's this website called Meetup, it's for starting and organizing social groups and clubs. Members can post the details of new meetings, keep track of people attending and everyone who signs up gets an e-mail reminder. Also it's a good way to advertise your group and get new members.
We could use it to organize this group.

I think you have to pay to use meetup, like a tenner a month or something. i think.

I raised the subject of Meetup myself in an earlier exchange. It is the right way to go. There is a way to make it cost almost nothing. But this is something I'll explain at a meeting in the near future.

I've been invited to write a review article ...which may or may not be published. ....so rather than submit a story for the first meeting I was going to ask the group to review the article......so I'd better get on with writing it!

Hey, I won't be able to make it, really busy till end of year, but hope it goes well, and will try to come along in January if not before!

By the way, I'd suggest repeating the Location, Date, Time in every message about the meeting (or possibly in the Subject line) so that people don't have to scrabble through old emails to figure out when it is again ;-)

(Which is, I think, Monday 8th September 7.30, The Caledonia, http://www.thecaledonialiverpool.com/find-contact/ )

Cheers,
H
