This how to guide is to help if you are trying to activate PATGuard 3. Once you have installed PATGuard 3 you will see the Activation screen. You can choose to either Activate PATGuard 3 or continue using the 30 day Evaluation Period .
1. To activate PATGuard 3 online, select I have a Serial Number and I want to activate PATGuard 3 and click Next on the Activation screen. You will need to have your serial number available to activate PATGuard 3. If you do not have a serial number, you can select Buy a Serial Number to purchase one.
4. PATGuard 3 is now ready to be activated. If you use a proxy server to access the internet you will need to enter these details on the following screen by clicking Change Proxy Settings (only for expert users). See Entering Proxy Server details if required, otherwise click next.

By default the Proxy Server settings will be the same as those set in Internet Explorer. To change the Proxy Server settings, select Use Proxy Server and enter the details in the Proxy Server and Proxy Port boxes.
1. The quickest way to activate PATGuard 3 is to Activate Online. However if you do not have an internet connection, you may choose to Activate by Email or Fax. Please note online activations happen immediately, whereas other activations will take much longer as they do not happen immediately.
2. To activate PATGuard 3 by Email or Fax, select I have a Serial Number and I want to activate PATGuard 3 and click next on the Activation screen. You will need to have your serial number available to activate PATGuard 3. If you do not have a serial number, you can select Buy a Serial Number or contact Seaward or your Distributor to purchase one.
1. PATGuard 3 can be used as a free trial for a period of 30 days. During the Evaluation Period the activation screen will open when you start PATGuard 3 and will display the number of days left in the Evaluation Period.

In order to reactivate the software you will need to renew your licence. You can do this online by clicking on the link in the software. However, if you are having issues renewing your PATGuard 3 licence or you have purchased a licence card from your distributor then please follow the below process.
6. You will be advised that a valid serial number is required to complete the action. If you have already purchased a new serial number from your distributor or online or are wishing to purchase your new serial number online then press OK. If you are yet to purchase a new serial number from your distributor then you will require this before you go any further. Press cancel, purchase your serial number and then repeat this process from step 5.

If you have a medium to large number of appliances to test (e.g. upwards of several hundred), or are thinking of adding PAT testing to your portfolio of services, then a PAT testing system could well be worth investing in.
The Seaward Apollo currently has three models within the range. All can be powered either from the internal battery or via the mains, all feature a QWERTY keyboard, and all fully meet the tests required by the IET 4th Edition Code of Practice.
Tip. It is worth noting that licenses run concurrently so if you are getting close to the end of a current one then let it run down to the last moment before entering a new code. They are also locked to a specific PC. Should your computer fall over / get replaced then a quick call to Seaward Customer Support will get that license code released so you can re-assign.
You will also need PATGuard 3 if you wish to CSV export any data from the Apollo. This is a bit cheeky as the data download from the Apollo is in a format that requires PATGuard 3 to do the CSV conversion. Work arounds are out there but can be a bit long-winded.
Most classroom based PAT training courses are 1-day, ours is so popular that we now run open courses every other week. If you have 5+ delegates then it maybe more cost effective to book a course tailored just for you. These can be carried out in our Training Academy or at your site.
If you have a fleet of Seaward Apollo units and wish to know how to get the best out of them (as like with smart phones people are often only using a small percentage of the total capability of the device) then we have options for day Apollo specific course run either by ourselves or direct from Seaward. Again these can be held at our place or yours and are suitable for when you have several Users to train together.
Tip. Please remember to regularly back-up your Apollo to your PC. Treat it as you would a smart phone. If anything were to happen to your unit, through fault or accident, then you could stand to lose up to 50,000 records (this is also the same should the unit require repair as the Service Centre are likely to reset back to factory settings).
Other Things to Consider. This includes factoring in the software license renewal and any consumables such as labels for the printer (if you have one of the Pro or Elite kits). Label rolls can vary from 130x to 350x per roll depending on the size of label you use. You will need official Seaward labels as they have specific markings on the back that the thermal printer head uses to line up with, but it is worth shopping around as prices for Seaward Test n Tag labels can vary (especially if you buy in bulk).
By hiring you only need to pay for equipment as and when you need it (also a good back-up option should one of your testers be out of service for a period of time). Hire equipment comes ready calibrated, serviced, and firmware updated. You can opt to hire all items (apart from labels which are purchase only), or just the parts you need (including PAT adaptors). On the flip side, hire equipment tends to operate on a first-come-first-served basis and PAT testing does have seasonal peaks which may affect availability.
All appliances tested by Intersafe are assigned a unique identification barcode. The labels are high quality write & seal data protected labels, that can be applied either directly to the appliance or wrapped around the appliance cable as required. In subsequent testing, identification barcodes are maintained, with the pass label section only being replaced. Labels can be customised with your own company logo if required.

As well as providing more information, QR codes can be scanned by a customer using a smartphone in order to find out full PAT test results and information. A new external battery pack now allows the user to switch the rechargeable battery in the field, thus preventing downtime.
The Apollo 500+ Elite Kit is a top of the range PAT Testing kit from market leaders Seaward Electronic. The kit has all the professional accessories required to effectively test portable appliances in a multitude of demanding environments. The Apollo 500+ can be used to test 3 phase, earth continuity, point to point testing on fixed appliances along with being ideal for testing IT equipment and RCD tests. These capabilities are now coupled with QR code functionality thanks to a firmware update and there is also an external battery pack.
