NLS has released the themes for 2 of the 7 rounds. The themes are "Welfare scenario in the developing world" and Geopolitical scenario in South Asia.

For the second theme, off the top of my head, ASEAN related research along with a good amount of knowledge regarding China and its policies seems important.

Please go through this document released by NLS.

If you have any ideas regarding what we should focus on, in addition to relevant material that you come across, please post here.

  • Burma - role of India/china is fostering democracy, India's stance on Burmese nuclearization, resource grabbing
  • China - resources war in Africa and South China sea, nuclearization of Pakistan by China, Water sharing of rivers (Indus and Brahmaputra), Border disputes,

On first theme:
  • RIght to

    • Food
    • Education
    • Employment (NREGA)

Attaching some docs and pdfs. Obviously not all will be completely relevant so use brains while reading as to what can be useful in a debate sense.

Context on Srilanka

Civil war, LTTE, and the post war fallout including the recent UNHRC resolution and the Indian political fallout.

The civil war context helps in understanding why the issue is so volatile.
