the Source Python Distribution 3.4.1.beta5 is out. To download and
install it, follow the instructions on the front page:
http://code.google.com/p/spdproject/
Changes since the beta4:
* notebook is fixed, it works out of the box
(http://code.google.com/p/spdproject/issues/detail?id=9)
* it's an "all in one" package, e.g. you download a tar (65MB
currently) and hit "make", wait 10 minutes and you are done. Just like
one is used to in Sage
* it includes numpy, scipy, matplotlib and sympy
So far we only tested on linux (Debian, Ubuntu and Gentoo). To try
plotting in the notebook, follow the example here:
http://code.google.com/p/spdproject/issues/detail?id=10
Plans for the future:
* fix the remaining blocker issues to release SPD 3.4.1:
http://code.google.com/p/spdproject/issues/list?q=label:Milestone-Release3.4.1
* after the release of 3.4.1, there are still lots and lots of things to polish
Please report all bugs that you discover into the issues.

I just tested on Mac too, it currently fails, but the fix is easy:
http://code.google.com/p/spdproject/issues/detail?id=11
and it will be included in the next release. So if you are on Mac,
just follow the instructions in the issue, that worked for me. I
updated the front page with this.

Ok, excellent. I don't think that temporarily moving it out is a
solution, e.g. what if you want to build SPD (or Sage) and something
else at the same time, or what if you are editing the file. So the fix
should be different.
Just a question: does Sage fail to build on your Mac as well?
Ondrej
I see. Well, if even Sage fails, then it's imho not affecting lots of
people, does it?
Ondrej
Yes, I also want to use all those packages separately too.
> Rare, but still a bug.
Yep.
> I will fix it though.
Thanks!
Thanks for finding time for SPD.
