Hi,
I am quite new to this field and I try to install the pipeline in our
lab.
Today i tried everything with the cygwin installation and the the
latest
TPP installation as instructed in "Download and Installation" on the
Seattle Proteome Center (SPC) - Proteomics Tools site.
This went quite fine so far. The thing is, that the .pl ending is
already used with Perl because of mascot (a labmate told me) so that I
am not able to use it for the installation.
I removed it for testing and set up the new .pl as instructed. I did
everything as said in the readme file by real_procopio dated from the
october 6, and the opening of a new
account and password went quite fine; the problem is, that trying to
open the tpp gui.pl through a browser (IE or firefox) does not work.
There is happening something (a small black window opens for a very
short time) but nothing to work with.
I use windows server 2003 and the IIS webserver. Is there somebody to
help me?
I really apologize for these probably stupid questions, but I really
would like to have the TPP work in our lab.
yours sincerely,
Andy

Hi Andreas,

Your questions are not stupid at all. What is the link you are using
when you try to open the tpp_gui.pl? To use the TPP you only need to set
the .pl mapping on the tpp-bin directory. Because the mascot CGIs are
in a different directory changing the mapping for tpp-bin shouldn't
affect the mascot scripts. We have experienced better performance of
the pipeline when accessed with IE. The small black window you are
seeing is likely a command terminal and suggests that the IIS settings
are either wrong or unregistered. Please make sure to apply all the
settings from this page: http://tools.proteomecenter.org/configure.html
. Make sure to restart the machine after you apply the configuration.

Let us know if you continue to experience the same problem or if a new
one occurs. Thanks for posting your questions to the list.

I managed to get it run today with a collegue of mine; he is our
adminitsrator.
Let me describe what we habve done:
We were successful with using perl.exe "%s" instead of runpearl.exe. I
am not very happy with this solution as this could cause problems later
on?
Then we allowed in the internet information services that all not -
familiar cgi scripts could be opened (I am sorry for that but I don't
know the english words for it as we have the german version).
Additional to that we had to convert the password for the user we set
up with dos2unix because there was something wrong with it so that it
did not take the correct password.
According to these changes - what was the problem for all these
problems?
Andreas
