We are contacting you concerning a faculty search for an Advanced Computational Design position at the School of Architecture at UNC Charlotte.
We seek someone to join our faculty and contribute to our unique two-year dual masters degree program in Architecture and Computer Science (descomp.uncc.edu). We seek to enhance the instructional and research capacity in advanced computational methods and design, by attracting candidates who are able to work across disciplines to extend the practice of architecture through the development of transformative methods in areas such as visual analytics, information modeling, human-computer interaction, environmental behavior, material performance, robotics, digital manufacturing and building simulation in support of advancing excellence in the design of the built environment. Particular interest will be given to applicants with experience developing advanced computational solutions to architectural design problems. The successful candidate should be able to join existing and expanded interdisciplinary collaborations with colleagues in the College of Computing and Informatics and on-going work with the Charlotte Visualization Center, the Interaction Design Lab, and the Human Computer Interaction Lab.
We have a large core of faculty in both architecture and computer science with a history of collaboration, funding and publication. The SoA supports research, funds graduate research assistants and funds a fully equipped digital fabrication lab.
