One fully funded PostDoc researcher position for 2 years (salary at TV-L 13 pay-scale) is currently open within the Data Management Group at JGU, Mainz. The position is to be filled as soon as possible in 2022 and will remain open until a suitable candidate is found.

Research area:
The topic for this position is in analysis and processing of complex/non-standard data with a focus on spatial, temporal, text and graphs. The researcher will investigate novel analysis tasks, indexing solutions and scalable processing techniques under modern parallel hardware and distributed environments. In addition, the adoption of machine learning techniques will be investigated, for example in the context of learned indexing, cracking and adaptive query processing.

Qualifications:
- Doctorate degree in computer science or related fields of study
- Good knowledge and experience in at least one of the following: data management and engineering, algorithm design, high-performance computing
- Good programming skills
- Good communication and team skills
- Fluency in oral and written English

Responsibilities:
- Designing and developing innovative solutions for real-world data-intensive problems
- Writing scientific and research reports, publishing papers to top-tier international conferences and journals in data science topics
- Teaching in data management related topics, e.g., database systems, non-standard data management, scalable data management, information retrieval
- Contributing to students' supervision
