Les envio la información referente al incentivo de la SBRC 2020 para con alumnos en general y posdocs a participar de CALL ABSTRACTS, tienen que cumplir los siguientes requisitos (información en ingles):

1. the 2-page extended abstract with your current research idea
   
2. an up-to-date CV (for Brazilians, Lattes format is acceptable)
   
3. an application letter containing cost estimation for travel (air tickets to/from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) and accommodation in a shared room (eg 4-5 days DBL or TPL in a hotel with breakfast included)
   
4. a recommendation letter from the supervisor (PhD adviser for students, postdoc supervisor for postdocs)

El rango cubierto economicamente es entre 350 a 750 dolores, no esta incluida la inscripción al evento como tal.

*** PRESENTATION ***

The LANCOMM Student Workshop (Latin American Student Workshop on Data

Communication Networks) represents a unique opportunity for students

from Latin America to network with other junior researchers as well as

more experienced ones. It provides a platform for students to present

their ongoing research efforts, receive constructive feedback, guidance,

tips, and learn about cutting-edge research problems being tackled by

the computer networks community, as well as meet senior members from the

community (the senior members who will participate in LANCOMM 2020 will

be confirmed soon).

LANCOMM will have a mentoring nature, something that has been absent

from previous SBRC conferences but is aligned with SBRC 2020 efforts. It

represents an opportunity for postgraduate students and junior faculty

from Latin America to learn best practices with more experienced and

acknowledged researchers, and get constructive feedback on their

research, possibly helping identify new promising directions.  LANCOMM

will additionally serve as a meeting point for Latin American

researchers to share new ideas and experiences and to discuss the

challenges linked to the development of data communication networks in

Latin America. Travel grants will be provided to students by ACM

SIGCOMM, as explained below.

*** CALL FOR ABSTRACTS ***

The Latin American Student Workshop on Data Communication Networks

(LANCOMM 2020) solicits stimulating and original ideas in all aspects of

networking research, reflecting the ongoing research efforts of

postgraduate students and junior faculty members in the form of 2-page

extended abstracts (excluding references).

We encourage submissions about research at an early stage as well as

more advanced dissertation-level research. Accepted presentations will

not be published as proceedings, so postgraduate students can submit

already accepted/published dissertation-level results and conversely

results presented at the workshop can subsequently be submitted, in more

complete form, for publication in a full-fledged conference or journal.

Research addressing non-standard topics, controversial problems, and

approaches are of particular interest.

The scope of the workshop is broad and covers all aspects of networking

research. Example topics include (but are not limited to):

• Mobile, ad hoc, wireless, and cellular data networks

• Self-driving networks and machine learning

• Network verification and synthesis

• Energy-efficient computing and networking

• Internet of things

• Future Internet protocols and architectures

• Network applications and services

• Network measurement and modeling

• QoE measurement of network services

• Traffic measurement, analysis, and engineering

• Routing and Peering

• Information/content-centric networks

• Data center networks and cloud computing

• SDN, network programming

• Programmable data planes, P4

• Network function virtualization, middleboxes

• Online social networks

• Network economics, incentives and game theory

• Security and privacy in fixed and mobile networks

formatting guidelines (LaTeX template for ACM conference proceedings),

EXCEPT for the following two differences:

• Papers are limited to TWO (2) pages only, plus references. Note that

the two-page limit includes ALL figures, tables but does not include

references (add as many as needed);

• Please provide only author names and affiliations; it is not necessary

to add PAPER ID and number of pages. Submissions must not be anonymous.

*** TRAVEL GRANTS ***

Travel grants will be available to students and postdocs attending

LANCOMM 2020. This support, kindly provided by the ACM Special Interest

Group in Data Communications, SIGCOMM, will assist a substantial number

of attendees by covering their transport and accommodation costs (but

not registration). Expenses are expected to range between USD 350 and

750.

Grants will be allocated according to the evaluation of an extended

abstract to be submitted by the student/postdoc, and a support letter,

by the supervisor. To increase outreach, applications from institutions

within Latin America, but outside Brazil, will be given priority. We

encourage participation of women and under-represented minorities.
