Slow startup

When open arcgis with st-links layers it takes 10 minutes to load all data. Yes sometimes the datasets has alot of rows (20000 somtimes). Even if the layers are disabled it loads the data. And if the data is outside the viewport it is still loaded from the postgis database.

Does anyone have a good solutions to this problem. If i try to load the same layers into Qgis it is loaded in under 30 seconds..
