Hi.  I’ve downloaded data from the Geofabrriq site for the UK.  It contains all OSM data for this region.  For my application I only want to set up polygons in my Spatialite database relating to relations (and their ways and nodes) where boundary=administrative and admin_level is in the range 2 to 6.

I don’t want any other relations for now.

Is there a way to do this before using spatialite_osm_map or do I have to prune the database afterwards to get rid of what I don’t want?

I can’t see a way from the documentation although the only documentation I’ve found is:

https://www.gaia-gis.it/fossil/spatialite-tools/wiki?name=OSM+tools

Best, Chris

Hi Chris,

as far as I know, spatialite_osm_map is a tool that almost no one uses;
I developed it many years ago just as a research project.
I think I used it no more than 2 or 3 times before giving up.

If it's useful to you, you are obviously free to use it, but
know that I'll not be able to provide you with any form of
support, you'll have to make your own way.

HINT: if I understand correctly, you are only interested
in administrative boundaries.
You can find everything ready from here:

https://www.naturalearthdata.com/downloads/10m-cultural-vectors/

I would like to point out yet another download site where
you can find all the towns, cities and villages of the
whole world:

https://download.geonames.org/export/dump/

At least give them a look.
They'll save you a lot of time compared to OSM,
and the quality is often more reliable.

bye Sandro
