Hi All,

I'm testing the new RC1 of spatialite.

As for shapefile (ie: loadshp) is available a specific load for DBF
file ?
Something like .loaddbf ?

Thx,

Andrea.

Hi Andrea,

currently SpatiaLite doesn't offers any support
for bare DBF files.

a) it's true that developing a VirtualDbf extension
isn't difficult at all, because DBF logic is
already been integrated into VirtualShp

b) but it's true as well that exporting any
DBF as TXT/TAB or CSV really is a painless
task you can accomplish e.g. using OpenOffice

for sure I'm planning to integrate a VirtualDbf
extension in SpatiaLite sometime in the future:
but this doesn't seems an high priority task
[just two request in about an year, including your].

bye
Sandro

There are a lot of additional dbf files in ESRI ArcView and MapInfo
projects. So dbf import/export will be helpful for integration with
popular desktop GIS systems.

Andrea, Alexey,

you won :-)

I've already developed the brand-new VirtualDbf,
(a not so diffcult task, after all) and I hope
to be able in releasing it ASAP
[please, wait for spatialite-2.4.0-RC-3 announcement].

bye,
Sandro
