If you like the sounds of Clipse, Kanye West, Kid Cudi, Outkast, Tinie
Tempa, or Chiddy Bang… You might want to check out the debut EP
(released today) from up-and-coming Bay Area hip hop Duo F.M. (Fresh
Music).
Like a few of the above-mentioned artists, F.M.
(www.myspace.com/thefreshmen2008) create innovative, future-forward
hip-hop that’s equal parts trippy, tough, nerdy and lyrically
skillful. Check it out for yourself:

Chazz and C-Lew – aka F.M. and Fresh Music - aren’t your typical Bay
Area regional-style rappers. In fact, their lyrics and style are
anything but typical of the northern California scene and will likely
turn heads in the global hip hop community with their breakthrough
self-titled EP.
The future-forward hip-hop EP kicks off strong with title track and
band anthem “Fresh Music”, a moody, mid-tempo track with heavy bass
pounding and eerie synths riding over and under C-Lew’s and Chazz’s
machine-gun style rapping. Next up is first single, “Pardon My
Charisma”, a catchy ode to the ego. F.M. chants, “I’m leaking
charisma… Excuse me if I seem conceited. But, I know if you were I
this would be agreed with.” The first official release from the duo,
the EP showcases sophisticated electronic dance production
(particularly evident on techno-synth tinged “Futuristic Music”) and
catchy, clever lyrics delivered with mesmerizing intensity (“You Ain’t
Ready” highlights both rappers’ head-spinning vocal skills).
With classic rhymes and hypnotic melodies, F.M. has already gained
significant buzz on the college and underground circuit. Now, with the
release of this EP, the future of F.M. and its “futuristic music”
looks even brighter. As the title track spits, “... you ain’t heard?
These kids are the next movement. So just groove and listen to Fresh
Music.”
