Hi,
I just wanted to put one of South America’s leading hip hop acts on your radar – CUARTO PODER. Take a look at their new video clip: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ySBpwddFM-Y During the era of controversial leader Hugo Chavez in Venezuela, Cuarto Poder has thrived over the past ten years with their edgy and independent sound. They also work closely with the local hip hop scene – hosting a popular radio show for developing artists to showcase their talent. Take a listen to Cuarto Poder’s new release ‘In Tha House’ - http://www.nacionalrecords.com/preview/cuartopoder The album includes hits like the massive anthem “Arenita Playita.”
Since forming on the streets of the capital city Caracas, Cuarto Poder has become one of Latin America's leading hip hop acts with an organic sound that stands out amidst the commercial rap/reggaeton artists that dominate the music market. The group originally met during a freestyle session in a skate park at a time when hip hop was still very much a new genre in Venezuela. They perform a style called “criollo rap” fusing street lyrics with folk verses and traditional rhythms.
Cuarto Poder has shared the stage with Latin America’s top acts from Calle 13 to Tego Calderon. They made their U.S. debut with a breakthrough performance at Brooklyn’s Prospect Park.
Looking forward to your thoughts!
Thanks,
