Hey there,
How are you? I’m writing to check in on the Red Bull Big Tune final competition in Chicago tomorrow – Red Bull along with Vitamin D and Jonathan Moore created this large national beat battle to help emerging talent find their voice and provide future producers a platform to be discovered by major record labels and performers. The winner will collaborate with an A-List artist at the Red Bull studios – past winners have been scouted and signed, so the process of shining the light on new talent works. There is an educational outreach as well, founders Vitamin D and Jonathan Moore go to schools and colleges for workshops and to educate and encourage participants who want a career in music. It’s going to be fun. There is a link below to RSVP for free.
We are also doing a screening of a documentary about last year’s competition tonight at The Wit Hotel from 6-8pm – there are free drinks and Garrett’s popcorn and the Big Tune founders will participate in a Q&A following.
Do you have any Chicago writers you’d want to send to cover these events? Just say the word and we’ll get it set up.
Hope all is well,
Heather

GIVING BACK
While searching for the next big name in music production, Red Bull Big Tune takes the time to reach out to inner city kids through a music education outreach program at local music schools, colleges and community centers. The program hosted by Vitamin D, Jake One and Jonathan Moore will share vital information about the art of making music and the business tips needed to navigate the industry that help inspire and create the future beat makers of America.
TUNE IN FOR THE HISTORY
Big Tune began in 2004 as the brainchild of DJ/producer/emcee Vitamin D and hip-hop visionary/event producer Jonathan Moore with the purpose of bringing emerging and established talent to the forefront. After three years of hosting thriving local battles in Seattle, they forged a creative partnership with Red Bull and the event evolved into a dynamic national producer program. Red Bull Big Tune made its national television debut on the BET Network last spring with a half-hour show chronicling the 2008 national finals in New York City. All-star acts such as Digable Planets, Ghostface Killah, Alchemist and Sha Money made cameos.
Red Bull Big Tune is an 18 and up and open to the public at Metro (3730 N Clark Street) with doors opening at 9:00PM. RSVP at www.redbullbigtune.com for free entry. Otherwise a $5 donation will be taken at the door for a local music charity. On the site, you can also watch videos, listen to the collaborations, get photos and more.
