Dear Seminar- group leaders/ representatives,
Hope this finds all of you enjoying your training and your freedom from submissions. (office submissions are very different you’ll agree)
Please make certain you collect your certificates from your employers before you leave- you’ll need them for your degree.
As you would have guessed I am writing to you regarding the seminar.
I am sure you have done some reading/ data collection/ identifying resource persons and so on. If you haven’t NOW is the time.
I am aware that not all of you are in the same town- this could be a huge advantage if you were to tap resources (people and libraries) at different places.
I am also aware that you are working- that is why I am not asking for a submission tomorrow! J however, I do expect that you see the sense in doing as much spade work as you can before you come back to college.
By the time you come back you will have 2 seminar books available- seminar 2011 and seminar 2012. The 2011 was delayed but is with the printer as I write this. The 2012 is in the last stages of editing- delayed too.
There is a change from the usual in the seminar schedules:
· You submit a literature survey as usual on the first class after we re-open in July. This is a major submission (with a weightage of 50 out of a total of 200 marks) and will be marked by advisors and co-ordinators. A detailed submission-requirement will be announced.
· We will have studio presentations/ discussions and stage submissions as usual through Aug-Sept ( schedule will be given to you in July)
· Thereafter it has been decided that you will write your full paper before the presentations in the first week of November. This is to avoid seminar papers clashing with your thesis work in the 10th semester. Your paper will be possibly due after the autumn break.
I am copying this to the Advisors so they too, can make a note of the change in schedule.
Lastly, your topic is one that is very interesting and highly relevant so if each group does its little bit, we stand to have a set of papers/ presentations we can be very proud of. Do give yourselves that opportunity.
One more thing: please do acknowledge mails- this one included. It is very rude to not do so- I have had advisors complaining that some of you haven’t bothered to reply their mails to you. Please don’t embarrass me.
I would like each of you to share this with all your group members and write back to me or Jaya ma’am (cc to advisor) by the end of this week – Friday, 12 April giving us an update on the status of your seminar work. This is absolutely mandatory. You must also let us know about those group members who cannot be contacted/ don’t reply.
We will be asking the Advisors to mark you on your application and effort sometime next month before we close for the vacation so make sure you get on their right side before that J

Are you all aware of the facility for inter-library loans for books? I have found it useful in the past. You may too. if you don’t know about it ask us or the librarian.
