Hello, would like to know if your problem has been solved? I got similar problem... CRA netfile went through without problem but i got error saying i am not eligible to netfile for Quebec.... nothing changed and i filed my return with turbotax for years...
I called TurboTax Support, and did a screen share of my problem. It kept on telling me NetFile Quebec errors and asking me to enter the employment income on form (TP-59-V) in order to claim the employment expense deductions. The amount was there so I repeatedly re-typed the income but was not able to accept it cause after I said continue it asked me to fix the nettle error again. It would not even allow me to skip the errors and all this prevented me from Netfiling Quebec, because of this form. After a spending a long time with the support representative to try and resolve this problem, she told me to just print and mail them. Hopefully this will be reported and fixed by the TurboTax software technicians. I was not pleased with this problem and it needs to be fixed by TurboTax. So the problem is NOT resolved.
I don't know if this is the case for you, but sometimes when information is entered just in the form and not in Easy Step, the problem of not recognizing certain boxes occurs. Best to enter info in Easy Step first and then go check in the form.
Ive spoken to several customer service people from Turbo Tax over the last week without a resolution. The last rep sent screenshots to the tech team and a day later I just received a email which said they have an issue filing with Quebec. I have tried again for the last few days and still the same error.
I spoke to several customer service people today and the last one told me the investigation team does not have a solution so I must file via paper. This is really disappointing and frustrating as I paid for this product to file my taxes and it only did half the job
Respectfully I spoke to at least 5 different customer service people and had 2 separate technical investigations and the last customer service person advised me to send the taxes via mail. They said they did not have a solution. The reason it is frustrating is because I paid to do netfile to both the CRA and Revenu Quebec and I was unable to file online to Quebec.
Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We appreciate your feedback. We will mention it to our development team and if the issue has not already been solved, will work on a fix in a future update.
I had the same thing happen. I was unable to click the agree to terms and netfile. I clicked on the answer 'No', in the box that popped up, until the error message disappeared and at that point was able to click on the agree to terms and netfile. The return when through and I received a confirmation number. A bit of a nuisance but it worked. Hopefully they will fix the software with an update.
I'm using Turbo Tax Standard download. My computer does not have a place for a CD. I've done three tax returns and it happened for all three of them, one single person and one couple. Once I clicked on 'no' (several times) for a response to the pop up box saying that there was an error as it could not read the script, I was able to click on the "agree and net file". Until that box clears you can't click on "agree and net file".
I forgot to mention that once I clicked on the "agree and netfile" I did receive a confirmation that the returns were filed. I went into 'My Account' to confirm and there were express notice of assessments showing on the three accounts.
I have since figured out the issue....you have to go back into business expenses and select the T2200S format (short form) and ensure you have everything zero'd out in there if you wish to use the T2200 long form (or vice versa if you are opting to use the T2200S). The error was due to leaving info in one of the 2 expense forms..that caused the NetFile error when trying to upload.
You will go to "Income"- T-Slips- T4 and click on edit your T4 and on the bottom of the T4 there is a question that must be answered-
Will you claim employment expenses for working at home due to COVID-19 for income on this T4? You can enter Yes or No.
Wish it was that simple...if I click yes to that question it gives me 2 Netfile errors and does not allow me to upload my return. If I click no to that question then it only gives me 1 Netfile error however it is still does not allow me to upload...I am in an error loop it seems and can't get out!
Hi again...went through that a bunch of times over and could not find anything specific to Covid 19 / working from home which seems to be the error for netfile purposes. Can you be more specific as to where this question is in that section?
I have a T2200 from my work so I have to do the long form for home offices expenses if that helps. I have marked that correctly in that section and have claimed my expenses and my CCAs etc. However it still gives me the netfile error and won't allow me to upload.
I have tried EVERYTHING mentioned in this thread while filing my wife's return and CONTINUE to get the **bleep** message. I even deleted all her T4's, all her RRSPs, essentially started over for her and it continues to come up. This is BEYOND frustrating. How do I get past this stupid message which doesn't not apply to us.
I have t5008 slip and i cannot use netfile as it states I have errors in the form, when i click fix it asks for type of income. I cannot proceed unless I select one of the options but it adds it back in as if I didn't pay tax on it of which I have. how can I proceed to netfile leaving this type of income field blank?? it worked with previous versions.
It think there us a serious problem with T5008 handling in TurboTax. As noted, capital gains from T5008 MAY already be reported elsewhere. Also, depending on circumstances, may be capital gain (most likely) or income. The cost basis given by the investment broker is usually $0, which is almost certainly wrong. And in any event, the broker is unlikely to have the actual correct ACB. This fact is acknowledged by the CRA in their T5008 write-up. The fact that TurboTax will just blindly use an ACB value of $0 is a horrendous bug.
The problem is further complicated by the fact that TurboTax seems to Auto-fill the T5008 data during NETFILE. So even if you have all the correct Schedule 3 data in place, it will submit a bunch of incorrect duplicate T5008 data, with an incorrect ACB of $0. This results in an apparent huge capital gain that did not actually occur. And having been NETFILEd there is no way to fix it until the NOA comes. This is a very serious problem.
I have the opposite problem from described above. I imported the T5008 from CRA and it agrees with the printed one I have, but the capital gain calculated from the T5008 does not appear as income (or50% of it) Should I add it to the Schedule 3?
Review your entries on your T5008, ensure all the relevant boxes are completed (percentage holdings, cost /adjusted cost base, proceeds from settlement) and you should see you capital gains reflected on your tax return.
I entered 100% for the filer's share (n all 108 entries!), but the gain still does not show up on Schedule 3, nor anywhere else that I can see. I do not see anything else that is missing and the gain (not shown on the T5008 Screen) seems correct when you take the difference between proceeds and cost which is shown. Please help.
OK. I see the problem. You need to designate the type of income as a capital gain. This seems strange - what other income is reported on a T5008? When yo import the form from CRA as I did, you expect it to be correct and complete. For T5008 this obviously is not the case. Why?
The software does not list a hyphen as an invalid character and is needed for some addresses (unit-building). I retyped the "stated" missing information and even copied it from a NOA but did not make a difference. The software failed to truly indicate what the error was or the error was in the software. The business address was correct and already entered on the "business" forms. The software reported the problem for a "rental". But even when I entered that address, it still said that there was an error. Epic fail for the software.
The message was an error. I could not Netfile due to the error without fixing it and I could not find anything to fix, not for lack of trying. At the time, I also could not find any means of contacting turbotax, it was the best kept secret!
I had a rental unit in the past but haven't used it in many years so that shouldn't have even come up when I did my 2021 taxes. A tax form that I received regarding income had a very long address but no weird characters in the address. I assumed that this is what triggered the message but after rewriting the address, entering my rental address and any other combinations that I could come up with, I could not get it to work and therefore could not netfile. I couldn't even find a turbotax support phone number to call. But the fact that this is still a problem is ridiculous! That tax form was imported from the government site so there should never have been an error message! Not going to be happy if this comes up again when I do my 2022 taxes soon.
I have entered my marital status correctly as common-law, and it's updated on my CRA account, but turbotax still says there's a discrepancy. I've tried so many things, double checked the date that my status changed, re-entered my partner's info... everything. We are both Canadian residents and have always been, and my marital status on my CRA account matches what I've entered on turbo.
I did my taxes for the first time after getting married, I had this same error message and couldn't find any way to get past it. So frustrating. Turbotax asking questions about the spouse I apparently don't have lol. What finally worked for me was I updated my marital status in my CRA account to married, and made sure my address was updated as well. I then signed out of everything, signed back in, started a completely new return, and the error message was gone.
