Is there any way to get both EALite and the fully registered version of EA to play nice on the same PC?   We have a license server set up with a set of EA Ultimate floating licenses, but have some users that only need to review/examine a model on some days and on other days, they actively need to work inside a model.

It would be REALLY nice if users could load up the EAlite (read only) version when they just need to examine or reference a model and not hog a floating license from a user that really needs it.

Right now, if EAlite is loaded onto a user's machine, it overwrites the registered version if it is there.

Is there any way to have both the registered version and the EAlite version loaded up onto the same PC and have the user choose which to fire up?   Help!

Cheers,

You can install any two/three/... releases along on your PC. Just rename the folder in the programs directory so it's unique.

Update - it turns out that EALite does NOT install over an existing installation - it just wipes/replaces the existing desktop icon and replaces it with one that looks identical but points to the new EA lite install. (Same icon and icon name.)    I simply had to rename it to "EA Lite" and then recreate the original icon pointing to the original EA install.

It would be nice if the EAlite installer created a slightly different desktop icon and used a different icon name so that it didn't interfere with an existing (registered) EA install.

Thanks for the reply!

Yes and a DIFFERENT Splash Screen is also NECESSARY...

Where we have both Lite and Full on the same machine, we ALWAYS install Lite first then the Full - for the reasons given above.

Just rename the existing installation to something else PRIOR to installing EALite or a different release.
