2015 Season - 1st Practice this Sunday at 12 pm

Salam Spartans,

Alhamdulillah this will be our 5th season in the league. Our first game will be on weekend of August 14-16 so that is only three weeks away. A few things to get squared away.

First, there was a request that Tariq be the new captain of the team and I think that is a good idea. Tariq is the heart and soul of our team and certainly our most important player. He will have final decision but as always we have decided everything together as a team. Omar Abbassi will obviously prepare and call the plays. Islam and I will help with strategizing and any administrative duties of the team.

Second, the cost of the team is $2200 per team. As of right now we will be 17 people. That is approximately $140-$150. I suggest that no one is allowed to play unless they pay on or before that first week.

Third, roster wise we are pretty much the same. We will send a depth chart in a bit. Islam will miss the first game and Shadi will miss the first two because he is going to Lebanon. We also have two main new additions. Hasan Hamdan as DE and Mohammad Abdelhadi as WR/S. Abdelhadi will help back up Shadi when he is not here and then will enter the rotation when he gets back.

FINALLY, Our first practice will be this Sunday at 12-3 pm. We would like to have a 2-3 HR practice. Sort of like a serious training camp. We will get introduced to the playbook with Omar (much of it is the same) and we want all of us to get on the same page. I would like for us to have at least 2-3 more practices and one scrimmage before the start of the season. There is no pre-season this year so we need to get as much work in as possible before our first game.

Salam all,

I know most if not all of you are on the groupme, so im not sure if you check the email or not.  If you do, this team tomorrow is a serious team and are making a pretty long trip to come to Garfield for this scrimmage.  Please be respectful of the time they are putting in and be at the field on time.  If captains say 10am, don't be a (insert expletive insult here) and show up at 10:30.  I'll be there before 10am, stretching and warming up.  iA I not the only one.
