Hi all,

I hope everyone is doing well......We entered into a new
year with great hopes and new aspirations.... Its a new chance for all
us to put our thoughts into actions....... unfortunately we were not
able to make the group active last year as we were busy with our
placements and projects...... I dont want to go our efforts in vain,
group was active till we gave certificates and later on no one posted
anything except some spam mails.... let us use this group to share our
knowledge and enhance our skills.

Everyone in our team got placed in various companies, so
feel free to contact us for any queries in robotics,or even academics
and interviews. So make the best use of this group which consists of
students from various colleges and branches. Hope to see good response
from everyone.

Wish you all a happy and prosperous new year :).......Have
fun :)

Hey Somya !

Can you please be more specific with your requirements and the touch sensor you are using?

If the touch sensor you are using is giving adc values as output, most of the microcontrollers today have a inbuilt capability of converting adc to digital. And then, you can use the digital value further in your calculations.

The once preferred for beginners is Atmel, as it has lot of documentation and communities widely available on internet.

As I said, if you can give a little description of what you are trying to do, we will be in a better situation to help you out !

yeah thnku for the reply........actually we r designing a touch based car unlocking system which we are fixing to a car protocol which was already designed....so the opening mechanism was already designed as spring based....so we would like give a luxury look by fixing a touch sensor..and providing some protection to it by remote..so that when we operate the remote the touch gets activated.......then after when we press the touch sensor......the control goes to micro controller.which inturn drives the dc servo motor.....which pulls out the lever inside and then the spring action inside comes into action which makes the door to pop out a bit.....this is our project................but  here we are unaware of how to proceed.......in this project........we decided to use a resistive touch sensor and a pic micro controller and a dc servo motor.........now we are not understanding which touch sensor has to be used........nad how to get them to our hands ..............pls can anyone help us out here.............???????????????

Hi Somya,

There are various touch sensors available using different technologies, ranging from cheapest to the costliest.

You might want to check out following Indian Vendors for such sensors:

You can categorize these touch sensors as follows:

2) Resistive Sensors
3) Peizoelectric Sensors
4) Infrared Sensors
5) Ambient Light Sensors (Light Dependent Resistor LDR)
6) Fingerprint Sensor

These sensors have standard way of communication with Microcontrollers like ADC, UART, SPI etc. They provide sufficient tutorials which are sufficient even for beginners to get them working. Each of the technologies have their own advantages and disadvantages. You will have to first list down your requirements and then go on with the selection of desired sensors.

Hope this helps. Please get back to us if you need any clarifications.

Cheers
Rajan
