I try to copy the .ipa and drag it but it just doesn't appear? When I copy the file, click on the edit button in the menu bar, all the options are greyed out even though I had copied the .ipa? Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong?

This no longer works in iOS15 and the latest itunes. Although it will copy your app over, on your iphone it starts installing then says "must be installed from app store." If the app is no longer there in the store, it will not install and the app will be useless (Showing with the cloud download button, which won't work).

I installed an iOS app (.ipa file) on my iPad using iTunes for PC (with Windows 10 21H2).The iPad's UDID is listed in Apple Developer Console list of devices. So it is a Developer test ipa for a test device.I've connected the iPad to the PC after iTunes was started and was able to install the ipa by dragging it to iTunes and dropping it on the left lower "On my Device" pane.I started iTunes after the iPad was connected to the PC and was able to install the ipa by dragging it to iTunes and dropping it on the left lower "Devices" pane.

Neither drag-and-drop or right-click paste worked for me.But Ctrl-V worked. Copy the .ipa file (normal Ctrl+C) from File Explorer, go to iTunes on the device's page, Paste with Ctrl+V and the app start to install.

Hello. I have a third-generation iPad with iOS 9.3.5, and I tried the method of copying and pasting the Atari Greatest Hits app to be able to use it with the accessory that was sold, however, the app appears on the home screen, but it is "installed" up to an average of 1/4 of the download, or even 1/2, but it goes up to that point and soon after the app stops installing and soon after disappears from the home screen. Does anyone know what the reason for the conflict might be? I really need this app.

updated my iphone12 with iOS 17.1.1. Then tried to sync it with iTunes to place new music on iPhone and back up. When connecting with usb lead iTunes does not recognise iPhone when connected and no icon appears in left sidebar so I am unable to sync or backup iPhone on my computer.

connected my iPad and this was recognised and iPad icon appeared and I was able to connect and update/sync my iPad. Straight after I then updated my iPad to iOS 17.1.1 and then connected to iTunes after the update installed. iTunes again did not recognise my iPad and thee was no icon in sidebar on top left so now unable to back up or sync iPad,

same this is ridiculous. always forcing you to update things, yet when you do things break. this is why I typically don't upgrade. now I need to figure out how to downgrade my phone back if that is still even an option. IDK, because the Macbook Pro I sync with is older and has a TON of legacy music production items on it and upgrading it is NOT AN OPTION as it would most likely break everything I have been working with for the past 10 years............

I updated my iPhone 13 mini to iOS 17.2.1 and then tried to back up my iPhone via iTunes 12.8.3.1 running MacOS High Sierra 10.13.6. I first get the update required message, click install then get the installation failed message. Help!

So much for Apple's old marketing slogan: "It just works". When I finally get this mess straightened out, I will no doubt refuse to make changes to my music library for another 5+ years because that is how much I dread having to re-do everything as a result of "upgrading". (I upgrade as little as possible because of headaches like this! Prior to the iPhone 12 Pro I was using an iPhone SE 1st Generation!)

Many of us who have been using iTunes since its inception also have music purchased elsewhere in that library, including ripped from CDs, Amazon music purchases, etc. If the only source of music purchase for a given user is from Apple, then the entire history is there and there is no need to physically sync anything. If, however, tracks are imported into iTunes is from diverse sources over many years, that means losing the portion that was not purchased from Apple

The phone cannot be seen with iTunes 12.8 (High Sierra) using an original Apple cable with a direct connection. I have tested this on El Capitan with the same result. It must be related to iOS. It probably should be reported to Apple as a bug report.

I am running Windows 11 and have the same problem, this has happened on older updates also I have tried all the usual hacks to try and fix but I am certain the problem is a connectivity problem which Apple need to fix

I'll say it more clearly, random songs from different CD's are not syncing. For example, a couple of songs from a single CD won't sync, where as the whole CD is on itunes. The burned CD will have all tracks 1-11 & they all play on itunes, but on the iphone it's just a few out of the 11 that actually get transferred, I've tried so so many things to fix this! And, out of almost 4000 songs, It's only a couple hundred that don't transfer, & it's extremely random, not limited to one specific artist, but it's same tracks that don't transfer.

I am having the same issue here, and am tired of having to look through a library of 28,000 songs EVERY SINGLE TIME time to see if iTunes decided to not sync random songs (and I ALWAYS find some). While these workarounds do work, I do not have time to do scour my device every time I sync my music. Very disappointed that Apple has not found a way to fix this syncing glitch, despite multiple updates, none of which seem to address this issue.

Mine does this a lot. A trick I do is change all the songs that won't sync in some subtle way. I add a comment to them all. Then sync, delete the comment, and resync again. That works for me every time.

I mean, look at these crazy suggestions, and they still don't work for me. The attraction of paying a premium for Apple products is "It Just Works," and clearly, they're no longer committed to that principle.

In the comment section type any character and this will update all 9000 of your songs at once. Please note this might take over time minutes due to the amount of songs you have and your computer's speed.

I tried what ReallyCrazyDad suggested and it still didnt work fully. I tried syncing again and the previous songs that were synced disappeared. But we all should not have to use these tweaks and tricks just to upload the d@mn music. So frustrating this

To get started, do you see any particular alerts or errors when trying to sync the music to your iPhone? Also, have you ensured that iTunes is updated to the most recent software version? If check out this link for help with updating iTunes: Update to the latest version of iTunes for Windows 10 - Apple Support

If you're not seeing one of the errors listed in the resource above, have you noticed if the songs that are not syncing to your iPhone are in a different format than the other songs? This may be able to help determine if there's an incompatible issue with the songs you're trying to sync.

FWIW I would recommend creating a dedicated playlist in your library for the content you want on your device and syncing that. It will allow ratings and play counts to sync in either direction and makes rebuilding the content on the device easier to do if/when the device needs to be restored.

Your library is like an index or catalogue. Media files are contained in the library, they are stored (or should be) somewhere on your computer. The "could not be found" error occurs when the file isn't a the known/expected location, or cannot be accessed there for some reason. Take a look at this thread for some advice: iTunes Original File Could Not Be Found - Apple Community.
